This is the privacy policy for isaacmarcuson.com, the personal website of Isaac Marcuson. It explains what personal data this site collects, why, and what happens to it. Questions and requests can go to isaac@isaacmarcuson.com.
What this site collects
Contact form. If you use the contact form, I receive what you enter, typically your name, your email address, and your message. Submissions are delivered to my email inbox so I can reply. I keep that correspondence as long as it stays relevant and delete it when it no longer is.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is collected and stored by Hostinger Reach, the service that sends the newsletter. I use it only to send you the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Server logs. Like nearly every website, the server hosting this site keeps standard access logs. These include your IP address, browser user agent, and the pages you request. The host, Hostinger, keeps these for security and operations on its own retention schedule.
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4 to see how people find it and which pages they read. It records things like the pages you visit, how you got here, and your rough location and device type. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID, so it can tell a returning visit from a new one. It does not tell me your name or identify you personally. Google processes this data as the site’s analytics provider. You can opt out using Google’s browser add-on or by blocking cookies, and the site works the same either way.
What this site does not collect
There are no advertising trackers on this site, and nothing here is used to target ads to you. There are no comment forms. Apart from the analytics cookies described above, the only other cookies are functional ones WordPress sets when someone logs in, which applies to no one but me.
Embedded content
Posts may include embedded content from other websites, such as videos. An embed behaves as if you had visited that other website directly. Those sites may collect data about you, use their own cookies, and track your interaction with the embed, especially if you have an account there and are logged in.
Who your data is shared with
I do not sell or trade personal data. Two third parties handle data on this site’s behalf. Hostinger hosts the site, operates the newsletter service, and carries the email where contact form messages arrive. Google provides the analytics described above and processes the usage data it collects under its own privacy terms.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email isaac@isaacmarcuson.com and I will handle it. This does not cover data I am required to keep for security or legal reasons.
Changes to this policy
Google Analytics, described above, is the first thing added under this rule, and the policy was updated to cover it before it goes live. If anything else new starts being collected, the policy will be updated the same way, to say exactly what is collected and by what tool before that collection begins.
