About Isaac Marcuson

I got into marketing to understand how people come to believe things and act on them. The question outlasted every job title since. Store manager, freelance strategist, CMO, and now editor of machine-written text. I edit what AI writes until it is worth citing, and I study what earns the citation.

The arc

I have worked in SEO and digital content strategy since 2017, nearly eight years of it freelance. The work was mostly traditional SEO for small businesses in finance, healthcare, e-commerce, manufacturing, and the skilled trades, often alongside other roles. When a client needed something existing tools could not handle, I built it with Claude. One client got a custom schema system covering more than twenty types. Another got a WordPress billing integration that replaced their SaaS workflow. Building those tools taught me prompt engineering on live work, and applying the same approach to content workflows pulled me into AI search.

Along the way I ran things as well as marketed them. I managed marketing and operations for a health food store with a team of more than thirty, and spent two and a half years as chief marketing officer of an online gaming platform. Editing is where all of it landed. I read machine output every day, against search intent and a standing kill list of AI writing patterns, and the question that keeps coming up is the one this site exists for.

What this site is

The essays run two beats. The epistemology of machine citation treats the model’s choice of sources as a problem in the history of trust. The editor’s chair records what daily contact with machine prose teaches about language and judgment. Both are mine alone, written on my own time, about the question rather than any client’s answer.

Off the clock

I lift, cook nearly everything from scratch, spend as much time outdoors as I can, and read old philosophy from both Eastern and Western traditions.
